I began Big Wheel Coaching in 2010 as a hobby to accompany my full-time job teaching junior high and high school physical education. I soon realized that the business would be successful as a solo venture and I quit my teaching job of eight years. I now view my job as “teaching PE for adults” where I can provide structure, feedback and accountability for even the busiest of clients.

I have been racing bicycles since 2004 where I began as an avid mountain biker. In 2008, I received my Professional Mountain Bike license and traveled the country racing NORBA cross country and short track events as well as the California State Series.

In 2010, I chose to shift my focus to road cycling since there are a plethora of events here in Southern California to take part in. It was very challenging going from being able to ride a rock garden on the mountain bike to being freaked out to take a turn at 30MPH in the road peloton. I quickly adapted to the different type of racing and fell in love with road racing.

Presently, I spend the majority of my training and racing on the road bike although I like to jump into a Pro Mountain Bike event when I get the chance. I really like the challenge of stage racing at the NRC level and the event where I shine is the criterium. I love racing fast and hard!

I believe that the combination of my educational and professional background and my experience racing everything with two wheels is the key to my coaching success. I have been able to create a comprehensive template which includes both the mental and physical aspects of training, that will foster great results for my clients.

I am very confident guiding my athletes to peak physical fitness through a training plan that is custom tailored to their specific schedule and goals. Being in the trenches as a racer, I am also able to counsel my clients on race tactics and strategy which are integral parts of being successful on the bike.

I truly enjoy seeing my clients reach their goals which could be hitting a personal best on a local climb or winning an NRC stage. The process to reach these goals is the most exciting part.
